Share Your Prayer for the 2027/2028 Methodist Prayer Handbook
The Methodist Church is inviting people from across the Connexion to contribute a prayer to the 2027/2028 Prayer Handbook – and we would love to encourage everyone across the Newark and Southwell Methodist Circuit to get involved!
The theme for the 2027/2028 Prayer Handbook focuses on coming together in God's goodness and working together for the common good of all people.
At a time when our world faces conflict, division and uncertainty, we are reminded of the importance of standing together in faith, showing compassion and bringing God's love into our churches, neighbourhoods and wider communities.
Prayer is a powerful way for us to unite, seek God's guidance and reflect on how we can make a positive difference in the lives of others.
What Could You Pray About?
The Methodist Church is particularly inviting prayers that reflect themes of welcome, compassion, justice, hope and community.
Your prayer might focus on:
- Welcome and belonging – creating churches and communities where everyone feels valued and included.
- Compassion and understanding – listening to others with humility, kindness and love.
- Justice and peace – praying for a world where people stand together against injustice and division.
- Hope and new beginnings – supporting communities facing difficulties and helping new life to flourish.
- Unity and trust – strengthening relationships within our churches and across our communities.
- Faith in action – encouraging us to put God's love into practice through our words and actions.
Everyone Is Encouraged to Take Part!
You don't need to be an experienced writer or prayer leader to contribute. Whether your prayer is simple and heartfelt or reflects a particular experience, concern or hope for the future, your words could encourage and inspire others.
We would love to see prayers submitted from people across our Circuit, reflecting the wonderful diversity of our churches and communities.
This is an opportunity to share what God has placed on your heart and join with others in praying for a more compassionate, welcoming and hopeful world.
How to Get Involved
If you feel inspired, why not take a little time to reflect, pray and put your thoughts into words?
Your prayer could become part of the 2027/2028 Methodist Prayer Handbook, helping people across the Methodist Church and beyond to pray together throughout the year.
We warmly encourage everyone across the Newark and Southwell Methodist Circuit to consider submitting a prayer and being part of this special opportunity.
Together, through prayer and action, we can share God's goodness and bring hope to the communities we serve.
